Minimum Requirements to be a Firefighter in Ontario may include:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

  • Minimum 18 years of age.

  • DZ license (must have available a Statement of Driving Record from the Ministry of Transportation).

  • 20/30 uncorrected vision with no significant abnormalities in colour vision.

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent (must have documentation: i.e. diploma or equivalency documents).

  • Basic CPR (Level C) and Standard First Aid.

  • Excellent physical and mental condition.

  • Ability to work as a team member.

  • Ability to cope in high stress situations.

  • Additional requirements may be requested by individual Fire Departments.

Note: Firefighter Physical Testing will be required upon conditional offer of employment
